Amino Communications has recruited Bob Giddy as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Amino Communications has recruited Bob Giddy as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Giddy has 30 years experience in the semiconductor industry with directorship and senior management positions held at NEC Electronics, inSilicon and National Semiconductor.

In his role as CEO, Giddy will focus on growing Amino's share of the emerging market for silicon intellectual property (SIP) and value-added solutions.

Martyn Gilbert, creator of Amino's technologies since he founded the company in 1997, becomes Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

In this role, Gilbert has greater scope to drive forward innovations and ensure Amino stays at the forefront of technology and industry initiatives.

Giddy comes to Amino from inSilicon where he established the European operations for this silicon IP vendor; prior to that he was Director and General Manager at NEC Electronics for 14 years.

During his time at NEC, Giddy established ASIC, microprocessor and multimedia design centres, building on the UK's strength in digital TV.

The digital TV sector is one where Amino is concentrating its efforts by working with silicon vendors, OEMs, system integrators, content providers and service providers who are empowering the delivery of new infotainment services into homes and businesses.

"If you look at the silicon industry, the major players are now recognising the need to acquire world-beating IP to stay ahead", said Bob Giddy, CEO of Amino Communications.

"For them, buying third-party SIP will become as common as buying product off the shelf".

Amino is well placed to take advantage of this with its IntAct technologies which provide a framework for IP integration and design re-use.

Giddy's wealth of contacts in digital TV, mobile communications and the PDA markets will prove valuable in creating the required pull through at both the system and silicon level.
