Set-top box vendor Amino has increased its US presence by appointing a new distributor, Florida based Advanced Media Technologies (AMT) The move emphasises Amino's commitment to expand its presence in North America's triple-play Internet protocol television (IPTV) market

Amino's fast growing US customer base will benefit from shorter lead times and first-line technical support from AMT.

AMT is a leading distributor of high-performance broadband products, specialising in turnkey head-end and end-to-end solutions for video and data over broadband, RF, fibre and IP.

Its customers are mainly US-based telecomms and CATV companies.

Amino customers will benefit from faster deliveries as AMT will hold Amino stock in the USA.

AMT will also provide warranty and first line technical support to its Amino customers.

"Amino's industry leading design of STBs, such as the AmiNET110, will allow us to deliver a truly cost effective means for service providers to deliver bundled voice, video and data services to consumers", said Ken Mosca, President and CEO at AMT.

"With Amino's products, our customers will be able to bring the latest multimedia technology to many more homes across America".

IPTV is growing rapidly, enabling interactive TV and video-on-demand (VoD) movies to be delivered over broadband telephone networks.

Using Amino's low-cost, highly integrated set-top boxes, subscribers can watch digital-quality television and access a wider selection of interactive services than previously available.

The AmiNET110 embedded video decoder features advanced post-processing filters that yield superior quality even at low bit rates, enabling network operators to offer broadcast quality television services to multiple TV sets over a single ADSL.

"Over the last six months we took $8 million in orders from key customers", commented Bob Giddy, CEO of Amino.

"We are fast establishing Amino as supplier of the IPTV industry's best value set-top boxes and look forward to further increasing our market penetration by partnering with AMT".
