Amino to embed Java in consumer e-business systems
Amino Communications has developed a Java environment aimed at the embedded systems market - set-top boxes, PDAs, gateways, seat-back entertainment and telematics devices.
"Amino has already gained a number of important customers who are rolling out IPTV (internet protocol TV) services in this region", explained Bob Giddy, CEO, Amino Communications.
"IPTV is increasingly becoming the weapon of choice for telcos looking to expand or protect their customer base by adding value through video-on-demand or betting services via the television interface".
"Now is the time for us to reinforce our presence in this market and offer the best possible level of local support for our customers".
Jeff Tan joins Amino as General Manager, Sales, APAC.
Tan brings over 19 years experience in the global digital media, internet, telecommunications, video production/post and television broadcast industries.
Prior to joining Amino, Tan was Area Sales Manager for Conax, responsible for the building and development of new sales revenue in both South East and East Asia, development of partnership alliances with vendors and the identification of new business opportunities.
"The IPTV industry is no longer considered a niche technology in the Far East with major players across the region offering truly interactive IPTV services like gambling on live television shows or racing", commented Tan.
"Amino's range of IPTV set-top boxes are small and well designed, which fits in with the modern, style-oriented living room".
"Its cost advantage and compatibility with system middleware also makes Amino a popular choice for telcos wishing to offer these services to existing customers without needing to change the network infrastructure".
