An Internet Protocol TV set-top box is targeted specifically at hospitality, government, and education market - including hotels, education, hospitals, and cruise ships.

Amino Communications has announced the AmiNET110H, an IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) set-top box targeted specifically towards the hospitality, government, and education market - including hotels, schools, universities, hospitals, and cruise ships.

Entertainment systems based on the AmiNET110H offer customers a significant opportunity to increase revenues from movies-on-demand, internet access, gaming, local news, pay-TV and advertising, and to reduce operating costs.

Using the AmiNET110H removes the need to route multiple physical networks to each room as an integrated Ethernet switch allows video, internet and voice traffic to share a single IP network - without compromising security or video transmission quality.

Software technology based on HTML and JavaScript allows branded user interfaces to be created.

The AmiNET110H is a key component of in-room entertainment systems utilizing IP networks.

IPTV Networks based on the AmiNET110H can benefit from easy updates of video content via remote download, and can be monitored remotely - meaning fewer on-site service calls and reduced operating costs.

It can also integrate other guest services - including telephony, internet access, billing and hotel information.

The product is rugged and especially useful in prestigious environments where a completely discrete, but secure, installation is required.

The A110H has a built-in SmartPort, MPI or MATE interface which is compatible with a wide range of TV models - including TVs from Philips, Zenith and Panasonic, equipped with a matching interface - so that truly seamless operation of all TV and set-top box functions from a single remote control unit is possible.

The AmiNET110H measures 170mm wide by 136mm deep with a profile height of only 37mm and weighs only 700g.

It has a power consumption of only 4W and is safety-approved to UL 60950 and CSA.

An IR keyboard for internet access is optional, and the box supports a variety of smart-card-less encryption systems to protect against content theft, allowing service providers to easily procure content from Hollywood Studios.
