Asia Pacific office expands to meet demand

An Amino Communications product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Nov 22, 2005

Amino has expanded its Asia Pacific office, based in Hong Kong, reflecting the increased growth of the IPTV market in the region.

Amino has expanded its Asia Pacific (APAC) office, based in Hong Kong.

The relocation to larger premises in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon reflects the increased growth of the IPTV market in this region and significant success in winning new deployments with Asian service operators.

The Hong Kong-based team is expected to grow further in 2006, to satisfy the increased demand for Amino's award-winning AmiNET product range and engineering expertise.

The APAC office move follows just three months after the US arm of the company tripled its office space by relocating to a new 465m2 facility in Atlanta.

The new Hong Kong office is strategically located by the harbour, in front of the famous Peninsula Hotel.

Jeff Tan, General Manager, Sales (APAC) for Amino commented: "The IPTV industry in Asia is booming and telcos and system integrators are looking at service providers with proven technology, which can be implemented quickly to satisfy the growing consumer demand".

He continued: "Our reputation for enhanced interoperability with middleware and conditional access partners as well as the success of other regional deployments have made Amino an attractive partner for Asian Telcos looking to deploy triple-play services".

Amino is the global leader for making the smallest, most attractive, high-performance IP set-top boxes on the market.

Fundamental to this success has been Amino's ability to develop a highly stable, industry proven, versatile software stack, to be portable across a variety of silicon platforms.

Asia is spawning many independent set-top box and gateway manufacturers who understand that the software stack is the key factor behind a successful set-top box design, they look to Amino to provide a turn-key, licensable, software solution.

A recent report published by Infonetics Research states that the IPTV industry is set to "skyrocket", reaching 53.7 million global subscribers and $44 billion in service revenue by 2009.

The Asia Pacific region is identified in the same report as a region experiencing particularly strong levels of subscriber growth, largely due to the advanced DSL technologies such as VDSL and ADSL2, already in place.
