An Amplicon product story

Designed to enable displayed data to be read over long distances, the BDF series are large four or six digit displays with 50 (2in) or 100mm (4in) high LEDs.

Designed to enable displayed data to be read over long distances, the BDF series are large four or six digit displays with 50 (2in) or 100mm (4in) high LEDs.

The 100mm displays have a viewing distance of up to 60m.

Recent additions to Amplicon Liveline's range of Panel Instrumentation, the modular architecture of the BDF series allow them to accept most process inputs.

They can be used with a wide variety of transducers for temperature, pressure, flow, level and many other process signals and electrical parameters.

Temperature inputs include Thermocouple types J, K, T, E, S, R, L and RTD Pt100 displayed in four digits.

The Temperature meter can accept two or three wire Pt100 inputs, have sensor break or open circuit detection.

They also include automatic compensation for two-wire lead resistance up to 10ohms.

For thermocouple inputs cold junction compensations and open circuit detection is also included.

The BDF series can display all popular process inputs in four digits and can be scaled either in the factory or field to display the required engineering units; span and offset can be adjusted from -9999 to + 9999.

They also have onboard sensor excitation for both current loop and transducer power.

The DC voltage is adjustable in the range 10m to 24Vdc at a current of up to 50mA.

The totaliser models operate as pulse counters, with a maximum input frequency of up to 10kHz for uni- or bi-directional counting and 2.5kHz in quadrature mode.

The totalisers are offered as six digit devices and if the maximum scale factor is applied they have a totalisation capacity of 100 pulses.

Both Totaliser and Rate meters accept pulses generated by Namur, PNP, NPN, magnetic pick-up and mechanical contact closure.

Excitation for these devices is also provided with a voltage of up to 15Vdc ±20% at 100mA.

In the event of a power failure, pulse counts and set up are stored in NOVRAM memory, such that when power is restored the display will continue from the same point unless reset.

The NOVRAM will retain memory for up to 10 years.

The displays can be used to display remote data from PLCs, PCs, panel meters and instrumentation with a serial output.

They are compatible with serial data including RS232, RS423, RS422, RS485, TTL and 4-20mA both loop and externally powered.

The protocol supports point to point and up to 31 addresses connected on the same bus; simultaneously the display can be controlled remotely.

Baud rates from 150 to 19200 are supported and protocols can be XON/XOO, ETX/STX or EOT/STX/ETX.

There are three basic models available for the time formats in 12 or 24 hours: MM:SS; HH:MM or HH:MM:SS.

In addition all models are provided with serial data output as RS422 for remote display of time.

The rugged black anodised aluminium case makes the BDF series ideal for industrial environments.

Also, their attractive appearance means that they are suited for use in the office or at exhibitions.
