Fieldworks/Kontron link-up to benefit

Amplicon Liveline has benefitted from an agreement between one of its key suppliers, FieldWorks Inc, based in Minnesota, USA, and Kontron Embedded Computers AG
Amplicon Liveline, the supplier of IT and Instrumentation to Industry, has benefitted from an agreement between one of its key suppliers, FieldWorks Inc, based in Minnesota, USA, a supplier of rugged mobile computing equipment, and Kontron Embedded Computers AG, based in Munich, Germany As a result of this new partnership, FieldWorks expects significant leverage to be obtained in the development and design of mobile computing equipment, streamlining existing product lines and also in the worldwide distribution of products, where Amplicon will play a significant part

FieldWorks Inc announced the signing of an agreement for a $2.5 million loan from Kontron Embedded Computers last week.
Kontron will provide $2.5 million for continuing operations in exchange for a subordinated note, and warrants to purchase 1.25 million shares of FieldWorks common stock at $1.
Amplicon Liveline's customers will reap the benefits of this takeover as better products and an even higher level of service will be channelled through the company to distribute into the UK, as the new partners work together to lead mobile computing around the world.
Amplicon has been a distributor for FieldWorks in the UK since 1996.
Additionally FieldWorks expects there is capability for leading edge product development.
Kontron expects to see a great benefit from their established customer base and sales distribution channels.
Within the next few weeks the company will participate in the development of a new business plan for FieldWorks to identify improvements based on realising the synergy between the two companies - in the short term in sales, production and procurement, and in the long term, also in research and development.
