Convertor incorporates sinewave generator

An Amplicon product story

A novel multifunction DC/DC convertor is ideally suited to a wide range of applications, including adjustable power supplies, signal generators, ring generators and longitudinal noise generators.

Amplicon Liveline has a novel multifunction DC/DC convertor that is ideally suited for a wide range of applications, including adjustable (unipolar or bipolar) power supplies, signal generators, ring generators and longitudinal noise generators.

The ARG3000 series of isolated, adjustable, 33W DC/DC convertors is the first addition to Amplicon's power conversion portfolio from new distribution partner, Beta Dyne.

Based in Massachusetts, USA, Beta Dyne has established an exclusive distribution agreement with Amplicon for the supply of its power and data conversion products in the UK.

With a patented design that enables it to source or sync current at its output, the ARG3000's input voltage can accept 12, 24 and 48V DC, and its output can be adjusted from 5 to 220V DC.

The convertor can be driven from an external low-frequency signal generator up to 1kHz to provide a 200V peak-peak output voltage.

Each unit is also input-power limited and will allow up to 33W.

Furthermore, an onboard adjustable sinewave generator can be used to provide a ringing signal for up to 15 RENs.

Other features include an onboard 5V DC reference, remote on/off control, 300uA off-state current, a wide input-voltage range of 2:1, isolated output, input over- and undervoltage protection, short-circuit protection and overtemperature protection.

Complementing the ARG3000 is a family of 31W dual DC/DC convertors which offer operating ranges of 10-30, 22-68 and 40-120V DC and a maximum output power of 31W.

This makes them ideally suited for such applications as instrumentation, communications, DSL power, computers and test equipment.

Each convertor in this range features synchronous rectification for its main output and rectifying diodes for its auxiliary output.

Adjustable output voltages can be specified from 2.5 to 18V (input voltage range is 3:1).

In addition, the convertor can be set to accept an external sync signal or to provide a sync signal as master to synchronise other slave units.

Its input stage is also designed to fully meet the requirements of UL60950 and EN55022.

Amplicon is able to provide customers with in-depth technical and engineering design support for all Beta Dyne products.
