Amplicon Liveline has been named as the exclusive UK distributor for Lippert's PC104+ high end products targeting military, aerospace and defence applications The new distribution agreement covers products which are entering the high end of the embedded marketplace, and include the Cool Space Runner II and Cool Road Runner III single board computers

The Cool Space Runner II offers high reliability, bringing Pentium Class CPU power to embedded PC applications, where key requirements include durability, compactness, low power consumption and fanless operation.

This rugged device is one of the first SBCs for very rough use.

Key features include its wide operating temperature range from -40 to +85C, 128Mbyte SDRAM soldered directly to the PCB for extra durability, 5.5W power consumption, no active cooling and polyimide material in the inner layers for shock and vibration resistance.

The Cool Road Runner III is a compact single board computer for the most demanding performance applications, incorporating a Mobile Intel Celeron, Ultra Low Voltage Pentium technology core.

It ensures low power supply requirements while providing high computing performance.

The Via Twister chipset with Savage4 graphics accelerator from S3 allows for a very compact board format.

The device comprises the functions of a standard PC such as COM1/2, LPT with EPP/EPC, two USB ports, FDD, and PS/2 mouse and keyboard.

SVGA, TFT and LVDS interfaces allow very flexible display usage, with resolutions as high as 1600 x 1200 at 16.7 million colours supported.

A TV-out connector for S-Video and composite signals is also integrated.

The Cool Roadrunner III is available with up to 512Mbyte SDRAM.

A CompactFlash socket makes possible the use of onboard mass memory, and if necessary, the module can be easily extended via either the ISAbus or the PCIbus, using standard PC/104+ extension boards.

Gerd Krauss, Head of Global Sales for Lippert, commented: "We are extremely pleased to have entered into partnership with Amplicon, and feel that combined with their comprehensive knowledge of the Industrial PC market in the UK they will be able to offer the best solutions using our products".

Jon Hutson, Amplicon's Industrial PC Product Manager added: "Being able to offer this new range to our customers will give them a greater choice in their end design.

Lippert offers products that are second to none in the Industrial field and we believe that they will prove to be a highly popular addition to our range".

Amplicon will provide customers with in-depth technical and engineering design support for all Lippert products.
