Acquisition spurs development of WiMAX testing

Anite has acquired Invenova, a company specialising in the development of software and systems for WiMAX device testing.

Anite has acquired Invenova, a San Jose, California based provider of software and systems for WiMAX device testing.

The acquisition of Invenova creates the opportunity for Anite to establish a significant position in the wireless broadband test-systems market, while diversifying Anite's product portfolio across multiple wireless technologies and adding new customers.

Invenova has the largest installed base of WiMAX protocol test systems and counts all major WiMAX developers as customers.

WiMAX is a wireless standard supported by several large technology equipment companies.

Already deployed in many markets around the world, WiMAX is fast positioning itself as a leading wireless broadband technology.

Several analysts are tipping WiMAX to represent a significant share of the Wireless broadband market before the end of the decade.

Established in 2003, Invenova delivered a validated WiMAX Certification platform for 802.16-2004, after winning a contract from the WiMAX Forum to supply its Protocol Conformance tester for use in WiMAX Designated Certification Testing Laboratories.

Invenova was also selected by the WiMAX Forum in 2006 to develop a protocol conformance test solution for 802.16e-2005 for Mobile WiMAX.

Invenova's WiMAX portfolio comprises a broad range of test tools covering functional, conformance and performance testing.

Invenova will be fully integrated into Anite's Wireless business.
