Companies combine to verify wireless equipment

An Anite Telecoms product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team May 4, 2007

Companies collaborate to produce an integrated and efficient means of verifying baseband designs with dynamic, accurate, bidirectional network simulations of embedded systems.

Anite, a specialist in testing technology for the wireless industry, and Mentor Graphics are collaborating to deliver a complete platform for handheld wireless applications.

Anite's single-platform wireless test system (SAT) for W-CDMA and high-speed packet-access (HSPA) applications when combined with the Mentor Graphics Veloce family of hardware-assisted verification products provides an integrated and efficient means of verifying baseband designs with dynamic, accurate, bidirectional network simulations of embedded systems.

With Mentor's Veloce hardware-assisted verification technologies, the SAT test system provides even more options for customers to create an effective 3G verification environment to conduct thorough and accurate system-on-chip (SoC) design tests.

Mentor recently announced the new Veloce product family and its customer successes at Date 2007.

The goal of both companies is to help bring complex SoC designs to market on schedule, without compromising verification accuracy.

Mentor recognises the vital need for high-performance hardware-assisted verification to achieve faster design migration from the software simulation environment.

Wireless technologies, in particular, stretch the limits of design validation and test technology.

"As the market leader in the development and delivery of wireless telecoms test solutions, Anite is committed to providing wireless handset developers with the best-in-class tools to develop their platforms", states Dr Colleen Cheung, Development Toolset Product Manager, Anite.

"Mentor's Veloce family of hardware-assisted verification solutions complements our wireless SAT test solution".

"Our customers will now be able to perform rigorous testing of their newest designs on this integrated, high-performance verification platform".

"We worked closely with Anite to implement this high-performance solution for our wireless customers, extending the capability of our Veloce emulation platform to address revolutionary standards, and evolve our existing capabilities", says Sanjay Sawant, Mentor Emulation Division (MED), Director of Marketing.

"Our combined industry-leading technologies deliver reliable and easy-to-use verification solutions to help our customers develop new and innovative products without compromising delivery schedules".

"We are delighted to be working with Anite to implement this ground-breaking capability within our recently announced hardware-assisted solutions".

Wireless telecommunications is a key market opportunity for Anite and Mentor Graphics.

This strategic, joint collaboration formulates a critical step for wireless companies who are developing next-generation technologies and require test and verification of their complex SoC designs.

Anite and Mentor will develop integrated educational and marketing programs to help wireless customers apply this integrated solution to their design verification environment, which include support services.

The combined solution is available for deployment effective immediately.

Key features of the collaboration include: seamless connection between the Mentor hardware emulators and Anite wireless testers; test environment supports W-CDMA and HSPA industry-standards; built-in data generators and customer-specific tests for validation of wireless designs; and high-speed verification of wireless baseband designs achieved prior to silicon.
