In addition to high performance and significant bill of materials savings, TigerSHARC is the only DSP solution that allows for quick migration between major third-generation modes that will be deployed in different regions of the world including WCDMA/UMTS, cdma2000 and TDS-CDMA.
As these third-generation standards evolve or new basestation features are required, TigerSHARC's approach provides added flexibility because the intellectual property resides in the software, not in fixed function blocks.

The TigerSHARC DSP has both the processing and I/O throughput necessary for both the chip rate and symbol rate tasks that are required to handle voice and data channels respectively without the need for support from multiple FPGAs or ASICs.

The ADSP-TS101S is the first TigerSHARC DSP to implement chip-rate and symbol-rate optimised instructions.
Analog Devices added these instructions after extensive development with base station customers.
At 180MHz, 6Mbit of internal memory, and direct multiprocessing support, the ADSP-TS101S is available now and shipping to customers.
The ADSP-TS101S is supported by a broad range of third party companies, including Delphi Communication Systems, Enea OSE, PA Consulting, Plexus, Torracomm and Transtech.
