High speed and fast settling from feedback amps

An Analog Devices product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Apr 3, 2002

The AD8091 and AD8092 are single and dual low-cost high-speed voltage-feedback amplifiers designed to operate on +3, +5 or +/-5V supplies.

The AD8091 and AD8092 are single and dual low-cost high-speed voltage-feedback amplifiers designed to operate on +3, +5 or +/-5V supplies.

They have true single supply capability with an input voltage range extending 200 mV below the negative rail and within 1V of the positive rail.

Despite their low cost, the AD8091 and AD8092 provide excellent overall performance and versatility.

The AD8091 and AD8092 offer low power supply current and can operate on a single +3V power supply.

These features are ideally suited for portable and battery powered applications for which size and power are critical.

The wide bandwidth and fast slew rate on a single +5V supply make these amplifiers useful in many general-purpose high-speed applications for which dual power supplies of up to +/-6V and single supplies from +3 to +12V are needed.

The AD8091 and AD8092 feature high speed and fast settling on +5V; at 110MHz the unity-gain bandwidth is -3dB, with a slew rate of 145V/us, and a 50ns settling time to 0.1%.

Both amplifiers also have outstanding load drive capability; they can drive 45mA and 0.5V from the supply rails and a 50pF capacitive load at unity gain.

The output voltage swing extends to within 25mV of each rail, providing the maximum output dynamic range with excellent overdrive recovery.

The AD8091 and AD8092 also possess a gain flatness of 0.1dB to 20MHz (RL=150ohm) and 0.03% differential gain error (RL=1kohm) and 0.03% differential phase error (RL=1kohm).

This makes them useful for video electronics such as cameras, video switchers or any high-speed portable equipment.

Low distortion (-80dBc total harmonic at 1MHz, RL=100ohm) and the previously described fast settling time make them ideal for active filter applications.

The AD8091 and AD8092 are offered in an 8-lead SOIC, along with a tiny SOT-23-5 package (AD8091), and a microSOIC package (AD8092).

They are specified to operate across the industrial temperature range of -40 to +85C.

Samples and production volumes are available now from stock.
