JFET input amplifier speeds to fibre applications
As the newest - and fastest - member of the FastFET family of FET input amplifiers, the AD8067 is designed to meet the requirements of high-speed photodiode preamplifiers for fibre-optic applications.
As the newest - and fastest - member of Analog Devices' high-performance, low-cost FastFET family of FET input amplifiers, the AD8067 is designed to meet the requirements of high-speed photodiode preamplifiers used in fibre-optic applications.
Until now, use of precision FET input amplifiers has been limited by their high cost and low speed.
Analog Devices' FastFET amplifiers are designed to offer high performance at a low price so that they can be used in almost any application requiring a high-speed operational amplifier.
Other previously announced members of the FastFET family include single and dual versions of the low-cost AD8033/34 and the high-performance AD8065/66.
FastFETs are the only JFET input amplifiers in the industry available in the space-saving SOT23 package.
The AD8067 is particularly well suited to photodiode preamplification in fibre-optic applications because it offers a wide gain bandwidth of 550MHz at gain of 10 and high slew rate of 500V/us.
The AD8067 also provides excellent DC precision with maximum offset voltage of 1mV and drift of 12uV/degC.
With its FET input, the AD8067 has only 1pA input bias current.
In addition to its extremely high gain bandwidth, the AD8067 also provides excellent distortion (-90dB SFDR at 1MHz), low voltage noise (7nV/rt-Hz), as well as a high common-mode rejection ratio of -100dB.
Although the AD8067 was designed primarily for photodiode preamplification, the product's wide supply voltage range (5 to 24V), rail-to-rail output, low-power consumption (6.5mA typical), and small package make this FastFET well suited for other applications in the industrial, medical, and communications infrastructure industries, which all demand high performance at low cost.
The AD8067 amplifier is available in a small SOT23 package and is rated to work over the industrial temperature range, -40 to +85C.
The AD8067 is priced at $2.29 per unit in 1000-piece quantities.
