Onboard programming for OTP trimmer

An Analog Devices product story

The AD5273 is the industry's lowest power, most compact 64-step digital trimmer.

The AD5273 is the industry's lowest power, most compact 64-step digital trimmer.

It offers a one-time programmable (OTP) digitally controlled variable resistor (VR) that performs the same electronic adjustment function as a variable resistor or potentiometer, but is smaller and more reliable.

The AD5273 replaces mechanical trimmers in "set and forget" factory adjustments, saving both time and labour.

Its one-time programmable feature permanently sets the wiper position - an operation analogous to placing epoxy on a mechanical trimmer.

Factory programming software replaces external I2C controllers, speeding the board assembly.

Providing 64-step resolution and packaged in a tiny 8-lead SOT-23 measuring at 2.9 x 3mm, the AD5273 eliminates the need for careful matching of specific resistance values in electronic adjustment applications with poor tolerance distributions.

The AD5273 provides variable resistance under two-wire I2C compatible program control.

A permanent write command freezes the wiper position at a desired setting.

These features combine to make the AD5273 ideal for battery powered electronic adjustment applications operating from 2.7 to 5.5V supplies.

The AD5273 is available in an 8-lead SOT-23 package and is priced at $0.68 per unit in 1000-piece quantities.

A factory setup kit AD5273EVAL to program the AD5273 on the PCB is available for $35.00.
