The Analog Devices Blackfin Fusiv media and networking processing platform has been chosen for Sagem's residential modems and gateways.

The Analog Devices Blackfin Fusiv media and networking processing platform has been chosen for Sagem's residential modems and gateways Sagem expects that its products will be deployed by leading telecommunications providers in Europe, paving the way to further opportunities with other European telecommunications manufacturers

Sagem's F@st Series modems and gateways, designed specifically for residential and small office/home office (SOHO) markets, allows high-speed video, voice and data services over broadband connections.

As a result, Sagem's products make it easy and practical for residential and SOHO users to enjoy capabilities such as video on demand, live interactive games, voice over IP (VoIP) and web surfing over a broadband line.

"Analog Devices leads the industry with next-generation video, voice and data platforms, enabling Sagem to deliver scalable, secured triple play solutions - ie video, voice and data", says Patrick Sevian, Senior VP, Managing Director, Networks Division at Sagem.

"ADI's comprehensive, fully integrated multiformat and programmable high-performance platforms effectively combine the network, media and PHY-layer signal processing functionality currently available only from multiple manufacturers".

"Using ADI's technology has already reduced our development time and risk, while driving down the bill-of-materials cost for our modems and gateway products".

"In addition, we feel strongly that our incorporation of ADI's platform was instrumental in our being chosen by the leading European telecom providers as their residential gateway solution, because we were able to deliver the right solutions at the right price, in a timely manner, to meet their requirements".

"Sagem is a valued customer of ADI", said John Croteau, General Manager, Media Platforms and Services Group, Analog Devices.

"Working very closely and successfully together, teams from both companies have already developed a variety of ADSL and multiservice solutions encompassing video, voice and data".

"With ADI's unique platforms providing integrated hardware and software solutions and Sagem's high-quality products, we are helping to enable the next wave of Internet for residential and SOHO-converged triple-play solutions".

ADI's Blackfin Fusiv platform processing gateway products to be introduced during 2004 include: the F@st 3000 Voice Gateway, F@st 3190 Ethernet Residential Gateway and F@st 3202 BG ADSL2+ Residential Gateway supported by the ADI's industry leading ADSL2/2plus technology.

For Sagem's ADSL modems and gateway products, ADI was able to provide an optimised bill of materials (BOM) and a fully integrated platform.

In addition, ADI's Blackfin Fusiv platform interoperates with DSLAM technologies already implemented in the market, contributing to the Sagem products' ability to fit seamlessly into both existing and emerging networks.

Sagem has a strong market share in Europe and has major plans to expand its offerings worldwide.

With ADI's Blackfin Fusiv platform, Sagem's gateways are ready for the demands of the future, including video streaming (IP-STB) and video phone services.

The company is using the Blackfin Fusiv platform as an important ready-made foundation for Internet protocol (IP)-enabled products such as home (or data) gateways, digital media adapters, IP-enabled consumer devices and set-top boxes that can be designed to deliver various combinations of digital entertainment and services today.

"ADI's technologies in Sagem's products will enable the company to launch scalable broadband services over IP with guaranteed security and quality of service", added Patrick Sevian.
