Cordless telephony chipset hits 5.8GHz
ISM band
A new RF chipset targets 5.8GHz digital cordless telephony and voice over ISM applications.
Targeting 5.8GHz digital cordless telephony and voice over ISM applications, Analog Devices has developed an RF chipset solution leveraging its ISM (industrial, scientific and medical) band transmitters, transceivers and PLL technology Using ADI's 5.8GHz cordless telephony RF chipset with continuously variable slope delta (CVSD) modulation, manufacturers will be able to quickly and cost-effectively develop cordless telephones that avoid interference, deliver low handset current consumption and offer extended handset range for consumers

"As an extension to the publicly available radio spectrum, the 5.8GHz ISM band is reasonably free of interference, even when operating near wireless local area networks (WLANs), Bluetooth devices and household appliances", said Christian Kermarrec, Vice President, RF and Wireless Systems, Analog Devices.
"By combining the ADF7012, ADF7025 and ADF4106, we have delivered a complete RF chipset for hybrid 5.8/0.9GHz digital cordless phones based on CVSD, speeding our customers' development time while reducing their component costs".
Made up of three radio frequency devices, the new 5.8GHz cordless telephony chipset enables high quality VoISM transmission and long talk time.
The chipset includes the ADF7012 (VHF/UHF) transmitter IC, the ADF7025 ISM band transceiver IC and the ADF4106 frequency synthesiser.
Operating frequency is 5767.104 to 5803.584MHz for base transmitter and handset receiver.
Operating frequency is 908.8 to 920.2MHz for the handset transmitter and base receiver.
The RF chipset operates full duplex at a bitrate of 64Kbit/s using GFSK modulation.
The 5.8GHz cordless telephony RF chipset comprises two ADF7025, two ADF7012 and a ADF4106 and is available now.
The chipset is priced at $9.90 per unit in quantities of 1000.
