Novel LCD modules meet gaming demands
Anders Electronics is providing high-resolution 2.8in QVGA low temperature polysilicon TFT LCD modules for the multi-entertainment handheld device from Gizmondo Europe.

The transflective 2.8in Toppoly display chosen for the Gizmondo platform is a lightweight module that combines a high resolution of 320 x 240 pixel with high brightness and low power consumption.
Gizmondo's new handheld gaming device is powered by Microsoft Windows CE.NET and incorporates a Samsung ARM9 400MHz processor and an Nvidia 3D graphics accelerator.
The device provides users with gaming, multimedia messaging, an MP3 music player, the ability to watch MPEG4 movies, a digital camera, and a GPRS network link for wide area network gaming.
A built-in GPS function enables location-based services.
Games are being sold on an SD card, with music and movie content downloadable via a PC to the device.
Commenting on the agreement with Gizmondo, Tony Saigh, Business Development Manager, Anders Electronics, states: "A light, low power display with high brightness and high resolution was a critical requirement for Gizmondo".
"Based on LTPS rather than conventional amorphous silicon technology, the Toppoly display meets all of the design requirements to ensure the highest possible quality performance and quality for gaming and rich multimedia functions".
