Quarter-VGA displays aim for portable applications

An Anders Electronics product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Jun 7, 2005

A new range of quarter-VGA TFT displays offers improved optical performance and reliability, making them ideal for portable applications.

Anders Electronics, the specialist supplier and designer of LCD solutions, is offering a range of QVGA (240 x 320 pixel) TFT displays that offer improved optical performance and reliability, ideal for portable applications.

Available in display sizes of 2.2, 2.8 and 3.5in, the new Toppoly Optoelectronics transflective LCDs use advanced LTPS (low temperature polysilicon) technology to deliver better contrast ratios and higher brightness and pixel density than conventional amorphous silicon TFT displays.

In addition, the use of LTPS technology and other techniques such as chip on glass (COG) and system on panel (SOP) for very high levels of integration minimises external component and contact count, simplifies application design, and improves reliability.

These new transflective QVGA displays from Toppoly are ideal for next-generation mobile phones, PDAs, gaming devices, GPS systems and other portable, battery-powered devices.

Each unit provides a palette of 262k colours and wide viewing angles for both portrait and landscape viewing modes.

Brightness ranges from 110 to 150cd/m2.

Touch panel options are also available.

Use of the latest COG and SOP techniques allows integration of controller and driver functionality into a single module, minimising the need for external components and reducing overall display size and weight.

The new products are RoHS-compliant and samples and evaluation kits are available now.
