Embedded module features multimedia acceleration
The CM-X270W computer-on-module from CompuLab is based on Intel's PXA270 processor and 2700G multimedia accelerator chipset.
Anders Electronics has introduced the CM-X270W, a new computer-on-module (CoM) from CompuLab, based on Intel's PXA270 processor and 2700G multimedia accelerator chipset.
The module's architecture addresses embedded applications requiring a combination of low price, low power consumption and multimedia performance, making it an ideal selection for handheld and mobile appliances, as well as applications such as point-of-sale, gaming and entertainment machines, and information terminals.
Compared with any other product in its class, the CM-X270W module is smaller, less expensive and has leading levels of integration to simplify system design.
The CM-X270W combines a PXA270 CPU, SDRAM, Flash disk up to 512Mbyte and vital computing peripherals including AC97 interface and a video input port with direct camera sensor support.
For embedded applications, the low cost CM-X270W provides a 32bit PCIbus, 100Mbit/s Ethernet, three serial ports, 40 shared GPIO lines and many other essential functions.
Excellent graphics performance derives from the PXA270's integrated graphics controller for STN and TFT displays, supporting up to 800 x 600 pixel, and an optional onboard 2700G multimedia accelerator significantly enhances the graphics capabilities by adding a 3D accelerator and a dedicated 8Mbyte frame buffer which enables resolutions up to SXGA, and smooth MPEG2/4 playback.
The CM-X270W has a footprint of just 68 x 58mm and a profile of only 7mm.
Commercial, extended or industrial operating temperature range options are available.
The module requires a single 3.3V supply and typically consumes from 0.2 to 2W, with several low power modes reducing consumption to as low as 3mW to extend battery life in handheld applications.
The module is designed for attachment to a custom baseboard via miniature connectors.
The standardised CAMI interface allows interchangeability with other CompuLab CoMs, enabling the flexibility required in a dynamic market where application requirements can change rapidly.
The CMX-270W delivers a high quality solution at the lowest cost of any PXA270 module, with prices starting from $57 for 1000-unit quantities.
