Display diversity features at Electronica

An Anders Electronics product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Sep 20, 2006

Visitors to Electronica 2006 will have the chance to see new TFT LCD and OLED displays, the latest compact embedded CoM technologies, and a wide range of panel meters.

Visitors to the Anders Electronics stand at Electronica 2006 will have the chance to see new TFT LCD and OLED displays, the latest compact embedded computer-on-module (CoM) technologies, and a wide range of panel meters.

Highlights of Anders' stand include the latest TPO 3.5in VGA touch-equipped LTPS TFT display with associated development kit and QVGA LTPS TFT displays in 2.2, 2.8 and 3.5in formats.

These modules provide cost-effective and reliable solutions for low power portable devices.

Anders Electronics also intends to be the first to show its European customers the new 7in white LED-backlit Wide-VGA LTPS TFT display from TPO - expected to arrive just in time for the show.

Anders Electronics will also be using Electronica 2006 to present Ra-Tek - named after the Egyptian Sun God Ra - a new enhancement technique for transmissive TFTs to enable display readability in direct sunlight.

Unlike other methods using additional power hungry backlights, Ra-Tek uses the sun's rays to boost the effect of the display's backlight.

In addition to LCDs, Osram's low-power OLED modules will be on show.

Expected to attract particular interest will be the new 128 x 128 pixel 1.5in full-colour module.

For portable industrial applications, Osram's 2.7in module offers a high contrast ratio with very wide viewing angles and a choice of display colours.

New embedded computing products on show at the Anders Electronics stand will include a device believed to be the world's first computer-on-module (CoM) to feature onboard 802.11 wireless LAN functionality.

Built around the Intel XScale PXA270 processor, the CM-X270L also features up to 128Mbyte of onboard RAM, 512Mbyte of Flash disk storage, Ethernet, stereo audio, LCD and touchscreen controllers.

Also on show, Compulab's new CM-iGLX X-86 compatible low-power, low-cost computer-on-module offers full Windows XP embedded functionality on a credit-card-sised device.

Based around the AMD Geode LX 800 at 0.9W processor, the CM-iGLX integrates up to 256Mbyte of onboard RAM, up to 512Mbyte of Flash disk, Ethernet, IDE, USB 2.0, video input, audio and touch screen controller, and runs without a cooling fan for improved reliability.

Products from the Anders Electronics family of industrial panel meters will include the recently-introduced range of 3.5-digit 48 x 48mm panel meters featuring extra-large, 24mm high digits for maximum legibility.
