Anritsu reckons its MS2711B handheld spectrum analyser dramatically simplifies the testing and analysis of today's complex digital wireless signals, many of which are transmitted near the system noise level New features of the 100kHz to 3GHz analyser include two powerful options: a preamplifier and tracking generator

With the preamplifier option, the MS2711B can easily measure signal levels down to -115dBm, enabling users to solve RF system-related problems including coverage and interference analysis, among other path-related problems.

The tracking generator is ideal for tuning cavity filters, adjusting repeater gain or antenna alignment.

Using the MS2711B's measurement function, dedicated one-button measurements, including channel power, adjacent channel power ratio and occupied bandwidth, can confirm the distortion level or channel power performance of a transmitter.

This feature provides quick and easy measurements on AMPS, TDMA, CDMA and GSM base stations.

Additionally, the MS2711B can conduct a series of spurious measurements when analysing a wireless base station transmitter.

It also features a field-strength mode to measure propagation and coverage, or to pinpoint electromagnetic leakage in broadcast systems.

The MS2711B also includes several new features that make testing cellular, DCS/PCS, paging, WLAN (IEEE 802.11, 802.11b and Bluetooth) and other communications systems easier than ever before.

For example, the dynamic attenuation feature tracks the input signal level and automatically adjusts the reference level to protect the MS2711B from high RF signal levels, or activates the preamplifier in cases of low-level RF signal input resulting in improved measurement accuracy.

Trace averaging allows users to make more accurate noise measurements.

It also features a multilingual user interface with on-screen menus and messages in six-different languages, and a 75ohm interface that enables users to conduct measurements of 75ohm systems without sacrificing measurement accuracy.

Combining high performance in a portable package (2.2kg, including battery), the MS2711B enables users to quickly and easily locate, identify, record and solve many of today's wireless communication systems problems anywhere and at any time in installation, maintenance or troubleshooting applications.
