The Anritsu A3H2406 43.5Gbit/s optical modulator driver amplifier is primarily intended for R and D applications in the emerging 40Gbit/s market.

The Anritsu A3H2406 43.5Gbit/s optical modulator driver amplifier is primarily intended for R and D applications in the emerging 40Gbit/s market This general-purpose driver amplifier has been developed to be compatible with the drive requirements of most external modulators both Mach Zender for long haul, and shorter-reach electro-absorption types

The A3H2406 has an upper 3dB bandwidth of 35GHz and 20 to 80% rise and fall times of 10 to 12ps.

Drive voltage amplitude is controlled by an external 0-10V DC control voltage.

This allows optimisation of the modulator's input drive voltage up to 5.5V peak-to-peak.

If the external modulator also requires external DC biasing, this can be achieved by adding an Anritsu V255 bias tee to the amplifier's output.

The internal design of the A3H2406 has been optimised to achieve very low power consumption of only 2.5W.

This allows the 59 x 67 x 15mm amplifier to be operated at external case temperatures up to 65C without a heatsink.
