A new software package simplifies the introduction of the Anritsu MT8850A Bluetooth test set into production lines.

In response to requests from manufacturers and developers of Bluetooth products, Anritsu has introduced the BlueTest software package that simplifies the introduction of the MT8850A Bluetooth test set into production lines By providing simultaneous control of up to 16 MT8850A instruments, production throughputs are dramatically increased

BlueTest software is free of charge to all MT8850A users.

The new software provides a single-button run facility to initiate measurements on all 16 instruments, which combined with the MT8850A's ability to test devices in under 5s offers the fastest possible test solution for the rapidly expanding number of companies manufacturing products with Bluetooth interfaces.

The BlueTest package, which runs under Windows 95, 98 or 2000, enables test systems to be installed and configured quickly and easily.

It allows configuration settings to be copied between the MT8850A test sets in the line, and for BlueTest settings to be applied to all instruments.

The MT8850A units are controlled through a GPIB connection with the PC on which the BlueTest software is installed.

Detailed reports of the tests can be viewed and printed, and test results can be written to a Microsoft Access formatted database (.btd) on the local drive or on a separate server.

The BlueTest software is written in easy-to-use Visual Basic and source code is supplied for users who wish to customise it to add functionality or to tailor it for their specific requirements.

A full installation for MS Windows is also supplied.

Anritsu's MT8850A and MT8852A enable developers of Bluetooth products to conduct true RF measurements rather than simple functional testing.

This is particularly important with a technology such as Bluetooth, in which the integration of a module into an OEM product will not necessarily produce predictable results, and the performance of every item will be different.

This makes it essential to test to a known set of parameters using an instrument traceable to national standards.

The traceability of the MT885xA's measurements ensures that the brand consistency and interoperability of Bluetooth is maintained.

The instruments' capabilities make them suitable for design proving, preconformance testing and production test.
