Since June 2002 when Anritsu's first network analyser, the MD1230A integrated with Sniffer software, was made available, Anritsu has been focused on the needs of the IP market.
With IP networks spreading rapidly throughout society in conjunction with the expansion of networks carrying voice, video and mission critical data, the maintenance of network quality has become an important theme.
"Providing the functional attributes of the larger MD1230A, a lightweight and compact unit like this makes high quality field based IP testing achievable and affordable, the likes of which were not truly available in a single unit before", said Ken Grant, Senior Business Development Manager at Anritsu Europe.
The MD1231A is designed for networks working in the range from 10Mbit/s to 1Gbit/s, which means that it can provide optimal solutions for Internet orientated network construction and maintenance.
A pointing device eliminates the need for a PC, keyboard and mouse, as required by some competitive solutions.
The cause of a problem in the IP network can be checked and determined immediately, using the simple and easily understandable GUI.
The MD1231A offers the user, traffic generation capability, latency measurement functions which are very important for VoIP networks, network monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities with in-service 'through' mode feature, and the ability to emulate many of the most commonly used IP protocols.
For anyone wanting to study their network QoS over a longer period of time, the MD1231A can be controlled via a remote software package, and up to 8 units geographically separated, can be controlled from a single point.
The MD1231A's compatibility means that it can be used in conjunction with the conventional MD 1230A.
