Anritsu has two new photodetector products for 10Gbit/s applications, to complement its existing range of DFB and pumping lasers.

Anritsu has two new photodetector products for 10Gbit/s applications, to complement its existing range of DFB and pumping lasers Using Anritsu in-house technology, which offers both high sensitivity and high resilience to optical overload, the AD14113A PIN+TIA and the AD14109A APD+TIA both industry standard surface mount devices, offer small footprint receiver solutions for both short and long haul transponder/transceiver applications

The AD14113A PIN+TIA incorporates a unique waveguide launched PIN structure with 0.95A/W sensitivity which helps realise an exceptional back-to-back sensitivity of -21dBm for NRZ signals at 10.7Gbit/s.

For longer transmission distances, the AD14109A APD+TIA offers -26dBm sensitivity for 10Gbit/s NRZ signals.

Both devices incorporate automatic offset control, therefore minimising the additional external control circuitry available.

Preproduction samples of the AD14113A PIN+TIA and the AD14109A APD+TIA are now available, and full commercialisation is due in October 2003.
