Fibre tester performs all three roles
The MT9080 Access Master series is the first suite of products to combine the three necessary functions for the construction, installation and maintenance of optical fibre links.
New from Anritsu is the MT9080 Access Master series of "all-in-one" testers for troubleshooting optical fibre metro and access networks The MT9080 Access Master series is the industry's first suite of products that combines in a single unit, as standard, the three necessary functions for the construction, installation and maintenance of optical fibre links: OTDR measurement, a light source for fibre identification and optical power measurement

Maintenance issues arising from the growing FTTx market in Japan have highlighted the shortfalls of using simple, low cost optical power meters and light sources for optical fibre analysis.
OTDR fibre traces are indispensable for quick and accurate diagnosis of optical fibre faults and their location.
Unlike conventional test equipment, the MT9080 series can also identify fault locations of in-service passive optical networks (PON) with the use of an out-of-band 1650nm laser, which will not affect live triple play PON applications.
Its industry leading dead zone and two-point connector resolution can provide invaluable fault diagnosis of the first several metres of fibre.
In the past this has typically required several conventional measuring instruments, which were unable to pinpoint accurately where faults occurred.
The MT9080 has a lightweight, compact design (approximately 254 x 162 x 61mm and 2.2kg), which makes the units ideal for field use.
A top menu screen enables easy selection and control of items to be measured.
Field data can be stored on a USB memory stick, instead of on a typical and easily damaged floppy disc.
There are six models in the Access Master series - the MT9080A/B/C/D/E and F, which can be used to handle various optical fibre wavelengths either individually or as a combination of 1.31/1.55/1.65um.
