3GPP HSUPA protocol conformance test cases are validated for use on the PTS protocol test system.

Anritsu announced the successful validation and GCF approval of 19 3GPP HSUPA protocol conformance test cases on its market-leading PTS protocol test system at the GCF meeting in Madrid in January A key milestone for 3G, this represents another major step forward towards the mobile industry delivering commercially available HSUPA terminals

HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access) is a critical element in the delivery of high-speed datarates on 3G mobile networks.

This latest extension of 3G technology provides a major improvement to data transfer rates from the mobile terminal to the network by increasing uplink speeds from 384Kbit/s to 5.7Mbit/s.

Last September Anritsu announced the completion of the world's first 3GPP HSUPA protocol conformance test case on the PTS.

Last week achieved the industry leading number of GCF approved HSUPA test cases on the PTS compared with any other commercial protocol test system, confirming its position as the HSUPA market leader.

Availability of the conformance test cases is critical for the certification of terminals and commercial deployment, enabling the industry to deliver the range of mobile products and applications that will meet market and consumer expectation for the technology.

Anritsu continues to work at the forefront of 3G and 3.5G mobile test technology and is working closely with the leading mobile terminal equipment suppliers within the industry to deliver the test cases to the industry.

Part of the 3GPP Release 6 specification, the TS34.123 test case 8.2.6.50 was submitted to the 3GPP RAN-5 working group for approval in early September, and Anritsu has now continued the work to achieve this industry leading position.

The test cases are available on Anritsu's PTS protocol test system, which builds on the highly successful MD8480C W-CDMA signalling tester for W-CDMA/GSM/GPRS and HSDPA/HSUPA terminals launched earlier this year.
