Performance test system obtains the world's first HSUPA RF/RRM test case approvals from the Global Certification Forum.

Anritsu's ME7873F W-CDMA TRX/performance test system, which supports 3G mobile terminal conformance testing, has obtained the world's first HSUPA RF/RRM test case approvals from the Global Certification Forum (GCF) This is seen as a crucial step forward in the support of testing of HSUPA mobile terminals with high-speed uplink specifications

The GCF determines operating standards for networks and mobile terminals to assure global interoperability between mobile terminals.

The test cases, defined in 3GPP TS34.121, assure HSUPA conformance and are contained in the GCF Work Item, WI-025 Enhanced Uplink Release 6.

Anritsu's ME7873F is the world's first test system with HSUPA RF test cases approved by the GCF, delivering four key test cases.

As a result, mobile-terminal manufacturers will be able to start developing new terminals with the assurance of 3GPP conformance.

The ME7873F also received GCF approval for the four RF/RRM test cases outlined in GCF Work Item WI-024 Release-6 Enhancements, defined as key technologies for increasing downlink speeds.

Additionally, Anritsu has also received GCF approval for its protocol test system, PTS, supporting WI-025 Enhanced Uplink Release 6/WI-024 Release-6 Enhancements, offering a total solution for all RF/RRM and Protocol testing for HSDPA and HSUPA.

With the development of high-speed and large-capacity mobile terminal services, the industry's intent is to launch 3.5G mobile services supporting HSUPA technologies and provide faster uplink (mobile to basestation) speeds than 3G terminals using W-CDMA technologies.

In these circumstances, the GCF decided on a set of verification tests for mobile terminals that would assure global intercompatibility between HSUPA mobile terminals, but until now, there has been no GCF approved test system for HSUPA.

Anritsu has previously obtained GCF approval for its test cases for the W-CDMA TRX/performance test system, marking a world-first for W-CDMA terminal tests.

This was soon followed by GCF approval for HSDPA test cases.

This announcement marks the world's first GCF approval for HSUPA test cases.

By using the ME7873F, makers of HSUPA mobile terminals will now be able to bring their products to market with assured intercompatibility.

As a world leader in conformance testing, Anritsu plans to continue to deliver new GCF-approved test cases every 3 months for its latest, leading-edge test platform, supporting further development of global mobile services.
