Simplorer SV version 6 is a free downloadable version of Ansoft's mixed-domain systems design software.

Simplorer SV version 6 is a free downloadable version of Ansoft's mixed-domain systems design software The tool is rapidly being adopted within the automotive, aerospace, and electric-drive industries

Simplorer SV, originally created to give professors and students access to a professional-grade design tool, has become a popular method for industry engineers to evaluate Simplorer's capabilities and to solve small-scale problems.

More than 16,000 users have downloaded the free tool since its inception last March.

The new version integrates VHDL-AMS, a standard modelling language for analogue mixed-signal design, within Simplorer's popular graphical user environment.

Users can now perform simulations using VHDL-AMS alone or in combination with circuits, block diagrams, state machines, and Simplorer's other modelling languages.

Ansoft also has added DC and AC analysis capabilities to the software, making Simplorer an attractive alternative to Spice simulation.

"Multidomain and mixed-signal design have become increasingly important as the automotive, aerospace, and electric-drive industries race to deliver electrically enhanced products", said Uwe Knorr, Product Marketing Director at Ansoft.

"Simplorer SV allows engineers to easily explore the power of Ansoft's integrated design solutions and helps students gain marketable skills in this emerging industry".

Simplorer SV version 6.0, available for download from the Ansoft website, has all the basic features of the commercially available version but on a smaller scale.

The new version includes an open AMS and VHDL basic components library within an easy-to-use Windows environment for electrical, control, power electronics, drives and related engineering disciplines.

Simplorer SV does not require activation or licensing and is ready to use after the installation process.

Please note that Ansoft does not provide technical support for free software.
