Users of Ansoft's Nexxim can now use a new device library based on Murata's discrete capacitor/coil inductor products.

Engineers designing electronic equipment, such as wireless local area networks (WLANs), car navigation systems, and cellular basestations, can now incorporate the accurate electrical responses and mechanical layout features for these high-performance parts within their large-scale PCB analysis.

"Murata is excited to offer a component library, which takes advantage of Ansoft's latest innovations for high-performance RF and PCB design", said Yoshihiko Ashida, Section Manager, Technical Management Department at Murata.

"The library, which currently contains multilayer ceramic chip capacitors and chip inductors, provides excellent diversity and design flexibility".

"Providing a library for Nexxim will ensure that our current and future customers will have the necessary elements to develop the next generation of ultraminiature telecommunication products with assured accuracy".

The device library contains proprietary equivalent simulation models of Murata's discrete components, covering 938 Murata monolithic ceramic chip capacitors and 265 chip coil inductors.

Murata components, recognised as the most reliable in the industry, can be used within Nexxim as equivalent circuit models.

Developed by Murata, these models are based on extraction of the parasitic elements and couplings and have been verified to converge under all tested simulation technologies.

The Murata library is available free from Murata's website and is easily downloaded and configured for use in Nexxim.

This site provides Nexxim users with the ability to search for components by size, name, performance data or other specifications.

Murata will maintain model support and upgrades, while Ansoft will address all customer support for Nexxim.
