Ansoft joins compact model standardisation efforts

An Ansoft Europe product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Apr 3, 2006

The GEIA Compact Model Council comprises a group of 35 semiconductor and EDA companies formed to promote the standardisation of compact model formulations.

Ansoft Corporation has joined the GEIA Compact Model Council (CMC), a group of 35 semiconductor and electronic design automation (EDA) companies worldwide that promote the standardisation of compact model formulations.

The CMC bridges the gap between compact model research and compact model usage.

"Through the joint work of research groups, EDA teams, model users and circuit designers in the electronics industry, model candidates are identified and reviewed for qualitative and quantitative accuracy, and any identified deficiencies are remedied", said Dr Josef Watts, Chairman of the GEIA CMC and Senior Engineer at IBM Microelectronics.

"CMC models are continuously reviewed and improved based on the experience of CMC members using the models for real design work".

"Hence, the CMC standardised models are usable and easily deployable within design flows, enhancing the probability of design success".

The CMC's activities focus on a number of models widely used in the design and analysis of computer, communications and electronic systems and components.
