Browser runs on NEC's set top box SoCs
The ANT Fresco browser has been ported to the NEC Electronics EMMArchitecture2 range of SoC devices for digital TV and set top boxes.
Delivering rapid time to market, Galio is designed for use across the whole range of home media client devices, from STBs and PVRs to digital TVs and portable media players.
ANT Galio enables new service development and implementation with its advanced W3C standards support and display capabilities using HTML, JavaScript and CSS.
Being completely agnostic as to media delivery technology, Galio is able to form the basis of powerful solutions in cable, IPTV and hybrid TV environments.
Additionally, ANT will have demonstrations of its PurePlay digital media manager.
PurePlay enables consumers to enjoy a wide range of personal and purchased photos, music and video content on personal media players, TVs, PVRs, STBs and dedicated digital media adapters.
Consumer electronics manufacturers often have many different UI designs and underlying UI support mechanisms for their range of products (and all developed by different teams), ANT PurePlay digital media manager simplifies product development by separating UI design from product control logic.
This gives OEMs a single software architecture that reduces product development cost.
The appeal of this UI development strategy is taking ANT into new markets that want to benefit from the UI development capabilities of both PurePlay and Galio.
As an example of this new activity, Galio was recently selected by Xerox to provide the user interface support for photocopiers.
