New power amplifiers greatly reduce overall power consumption
The SGH-I520 sports a sliding form offering many of today's advanced multimedia functions, including a 2.0Mpixel camera, a wide 2.3in QVGA screen allowing for the view of an entire internet page, Bluetooth capabilities, and 50Mbyte internal memory along with a microSD memory card slot up to 2Gbyte.
The SGH-I520 handset can connect to the Internet using technology allowing the user to download content at rates up to 1.8Mbit/s over WCDMA, HSPA or Edge networks.
"We are very pleased to once again partner with Samsung and have our industry-leading 3G penta-band HELP2 UMTS and Edge power amplifier selected for the SGH-I520 smartphone", says Dr Bami Bastani, President and CEO of Anadigics.
"Anadigics' leading line of wireless broadband products and strategic relationships with tier-one manufacturers like Samsung allows us to be a constant provider of feature-full 3G handsets for the user who wants to talk, email or surf the web from their mobile device".
The AWT6223 penta-band PA module incorporates Anadigics' second-generation High-Efficiency-at-Low-Power (HELP2) technology to reduce UMTS average power consumption by up to 50%.
In WCDMA and HSPA modes, the power amplifier offers outstanding efficiencies of 41% at +28.5dBm and 21% at +16dBm, resulting in longer battery life and additional talk-time.
The AWT6223 also includes a fully functional quad-band GSM/Edge PA, with excellent efficiency in the GSM850/900 bands and DCS/PCS bands in both GSMK and 8PSK modes.
Anadigics' multimode PAs use the Company's exclusive InGaP-Plus technology, which integrates HBT and pHEMT devices on the same InGaP GaAs die.
These PAs are manufactured using a materials set consistent with the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS).
