Power amplifier covers WiMAX and WiBro
The AWM6422 power amplifier is a high performance device with exceptional linearity and efficiency at high levels of output power.
The AWM6422 power amplifier launched by Anadigics at the Mobile World Congress operates in the 2.3-2.4GHz frequency band allocated for broadband mobile wireless services, such as WiMAX and WiBro.
The new AWM6422 is already being integrated into USB adapters manufactured for a major Korean telecomms company.
A variation of Anadigics' widely accepted AWM6423, which was introduced last year, the new AWM6422 power amplifier (PA) is a high performance device with exceptional linearity and efficiency at high levels of output power.
Designed for WiMAX and WiBro applications in the 2.3-2.4GHz band, the AWM6422 supports the IEEE802.16e-2005 wireless standard as well as the IEEE802.16d- 2004 and the ETSI EN301-021 standards.
Optimised for use in mobile devices, the AWM6422 requires a nominal +3.3V supply, but also provides enhanced RF performance when used with supply voltages as high as +4.2V.
"With today's announcement of our new AWM6422, Anadigics continues its leadership in providing state-of-the-art PA technology for wireless product and system design engineers worldwide", says Ron Michels, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Broadband Products, Anadigics.
"Our growing portfolio of WiMAX power amplifiers provides the high linearity, advanced functional integration and superior power efficiency required to support the high performance requirements of today's rapidly emerging broadband systems".
Using Anadigics' patented InGaP-Plus technology, the AWM6422 power amplifier features: better than 30dB of RF gain; low EVM contribution at high output power levels; an integrated 25dB attenuator; an integrated output power detector; and 50ohm matched RF ports for reduced external component count.
The AWM6422 2.3-2.4GHz WiMAX/WiBro amplifier is sampling now in an RoHS compliant 4.5 x 4.5 x 1.4mm surface mount package, with volume production scheduled for the end of Q1 2008.
