Monitors support legacy analogue comms
tests
Two new communications service monitors aim to bring expanded capability and ease of use to analogue radio testing.
Aeroflex has released two new communications service monitors, the IFR2945B and IFR2948B, which will bring expanded capability and ease of use to analogue radio testing The new products reinforce Aeroflex's commitment to product development in support of a key market segment that sustains critical communications services in the analogue Private Mobile Radio (PMR) sector

Deeper analysis for broadband signals
Aeroflex has added a broad array of new signal measurement capabilities to its Celerity CS35000 Series broadband signal analyser and recorder family (BSA).
"Aeroflex is the only major test vendor that actively supports testing of all primary digital and analogue PMR systems".
"Legacy analogue radio systems still make up a huge part of the market".
"These radio communications systems are critical to first responders and others and in some cases will be used actively well into the next decade", said Graham Stevens, Product Manager, Aeroflex.
The predecessors to the new IFR2945B and IFR2948B communications service monitors have been widely accepted in the market because they are rugged and lightweight (under 11kg), include a full span spectrum analyser, a tracking generator with full offset tracking, and can measure accurate power measurements to 150W.
They have a frequency range from 400kHz to 1.05GHz.
The 2948B includes all the same features as the 2945B but with a low-phase-noise signal generator added for more critical receiver testing.
The new products have all the same features as the previous models plus added features and five new options to expand the testing capability for radio service and maintenance, basestation service and maintenance, and manufacturing test.
Key new capabilities include addition of LTR (logic trunked radio) as well as currently available MPT1327/EDACS, greater tracking generator isolation, a seamless RF generator, flexible audio and demodulation filters, an internal battery option allowing up to 60 minutes of field use, a sunlight-readable transflective colour display, and extension to the tones capability.
The new options are LTR, tone remote, plus 2 distortion notch filters board, IF output and internal battery (2945B only).
The LTR option will be available for order starting 1st October 2005, with all other products and options available immediately.
First deliveries for the IFR2945B and IFR2948B products will be eight and 12 weeks, respectively, on receipt of order.
