The growing demand for environmentally-friendly products has largely been driven by the directives established by the European Union (EU).
The EU's Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) guidelines call for a restriction on the use of lead and other hazardous materials in all electronic products distributed within the European Union after 1st July 2006.
Stringent electronic manufacturing regulations have also been enacted in Japan, and government agencies in China are considering implementation of similar regulations in the near future.
AnalogicTech initiated its lead-free compliance programme in 2003 in response to growing public concern about the environmental impacts of lead, which has traditionally been used in solder finishes and coatings for electronic components.
The company has been manufacturing lead-free products since January 2004 - well ahead of the July 2006 deadline.
AnalogicTech is in full compliance with the EU guidelines, and the company is committed to ensuring strict adherence to worldwide environmental protection policies going forward.
