Two new step-down voltage regulators combine multiple voltage regulators on a single chip.

Two new step-down voltage regulators combine multiple voltage regulators on a single chip The devices offer designers of portable systems the opportunity to increase integration in a footprint less than half the size of many competing solutions, while efficiently meeting application-specific power management needs

Targeted at systems running on single lithium-ion/polymer batteries, the AAT2500 combines a low dropout (LDO) linear regulator with a 400mA DC/DC step-down convertor.

For applications with greater efficiency concerns, the AAT2510 brings together two 400mA DC/DC step-down convertors.

Both devices cover an input voltage range from 2.7 to 5.5V.

The LDO in the AAT2500 features an independent input and can deliver up to 300mA of current.

It offers fast transient response and an excellent power supply rejection ratio (67dB typical).

The AAT2500's 1MHz step-down convertor features peak current mode control with internal compensation to deliver stable performance with a small 4.7uF ceramic output capacitor for extremely low output ripple.

This high efficiency convertor offers a low 25uA no load quiescent current.

Its low dropout, 100% duty cycle and smart circuitry allow the AAT2500 to operate with very low input-to-output voltage headroom, extending battery run time and maximising standby time.

Also designed to minimise external components count and cost, the AAT2510 dual-channel 400mA step-down convertor offers many of the same features, including internal compensation and a low 25uA quiescent current per channel.

The output voltage on the AAT2510 is either fixed or externally adjustable and ranges from 0.6V to the maximum applied input voltage.

Both the AAT2500 and the AAT2510 have internal soft start, overtemperature, and current limit protection.

In addition, both products provide excellent channel-to-channel isolation to reduce noise in the system.

Although portable electronic devices generally require a variety of voltage regulators to accurately and efficiently power up different functions throughout the system, typically these regulators are available in discrete or large footprint devices.

AnalogicTech's AAT2500 and AAT2510 provide designers with a solution in a much smaller package.

Rated over the -40 to +85C temperature range, AAT2500 and AAT2510 devices are available in Pb-free, thermally enhanced, 12-pin TDFN33 packages.
