Acte Components has been appointed as UK distributor for wireless connectivity specialist Wavecom.
Acte Components has been appointed as UK distributor for wireless connectivity specialist Wavecom.
The Basingstoke based company, which offers comprehensive design-in and technical support to it customers, will represent Wavecom's complete product portfolio of GSM/GPRS modules.
The comprehensive range of type approved, fully integrated modules bring voice and data wireless communications capability to a wide range of commercial and industrial electronics equipment.
Wavecom products support the widely adopted GSM/GPRS, CDMA and 3G standards.
Having full type approval greatly simplifies the integration of the modules into customer equipment.
Many products in the Wavecom range are programmable and feature on-board memory and processing; this enables them to be tailored to specific applications, simplifies development cycles and shortens project time-to-market.
Acte is able to offer full software support through its Open AT approved partner.
Taking the wireless standard module concept one step further, Wavecom recently launched its Wireless Open Workshop offering.
Wireless Open Workshop is composed of a series of development labs that address the needs of different industry segments, each includes a wide range of software and hardware options, development tools and services.
Implementation of the appropriate hardware and software into a customer's product is fully supported by Wavecom and Acte to give a 'right-first-time' design.
All Wavecom products, whether designed for integration within a customer product or as plug-in external modems, have compact dimensions and a rugged construction so that they can be adopted in limited space applications and harsh environments.
Commenting on the appointment, Mark Lewis, Product Manager, Acte Components said: "Wavecom are the leaders in providing wireless products that meet the increasing demands in Industrial electronics equipment for machine-to-machine (M2M) communications and telemetry.
We are looking forward to working with them to bring the benefits of their technology to the UK market.
He continued: "Acte's ability to provide strong technical support to its customers will prove invaluable in creating new business opportunities for Wavecom products and meeting the needs of the UK customer base".
