GPS modules keep tracking where others fail
Qinetiq's highly sensitive GPS modules are suitable for markets requiring tracking indoors.
The ETSI compliant Q2406B is loaded with complete 2.5G GSM/GPRS class 10 capability.
It is designed for dual-band operation and is available in either 900/1800MHz, 850/1900MHz or CDMA/AMPS variants.
With overall dimensions of just 58 x 32 x 3.9mm, and weighing only 11g, the module can be easily incorporated into most limited space applications.
The Q2406B compliments the existing range of Wismo Quik platform modules and GSM modems that are already well established and proven in the wireless connectivity market.
Optional embedded TCP/IP helps ease the integration of the Q2406B into customer products.
This is further enhanced by 32Kbit of RAM and 4Kbit EEPROM that enables customers to embed their own applications (via MUSE Open AT) and reduces the need for additional software and hardware that is external to the module.
The Q2406B draws less than 3.5mA in GSM idle mode, and an average 300mA when communicating (GSM900, 0% DTX, Pmax).
The module requires a 3.6V DC power supply and can be connected directly to a Li-ion battery pack.
60 single pins provide a board-to-board connector and interface the power supply connection, SIM interface, two microphone inputs and two speaker outputs, general purpose I/Os and a serial interface.
Also provided are an analogue to digital convertor, 10 input lines for a 5 x 5 keypad, an RS232 link, IrDA 1.2A protocol, and a buzzer output.
RF pads support coaxial cable connection to provide an antenna interface.
