Sonet/SDH blade aids optical development
Apcon has added a new multirate Sonet/SDH blade to its physical layer optical switch line.
Apcon has added a new multirate Sonet/SDH blade to its physical layer optical switch line.
The new blade supports OC-3, OC-12, OC-48 simultaneously, or independently, providing a flexible, scalable solution for network test and systems engineers.
The OC-3, OC-12, OC-48 blade can be used with Apcon's Intellapatch 64 and Intellapatch 144 switches, which are designed to remotely automate network connectivity tasks, such as lab setup and system configuration.
These layer-1 optical switches are optimal solutions for system integrators and test engineers who need to manage configurations based on various telecommunications and data networking systems.
The multirate Sonet/SDH blade is ideal for manufacturers of optical and network components who benefit by routing optical signals and managing cable pulls to automate the entire test processes.
"Our new OC-3, OC-12, OC-48 blade places us in contention with other all-optical (OOO) products on the market today.
The difference being, our product can be integrated into development labs at a much lower cost and with no signal degradation", said Kevin Schaffer, Telecommunications Product Development.
Both the Intellapatch 64 (a 64-port, four-blade switch) and the Intellapatch 144 (a144-port, nine-blade switch) provide a scalable solution to customers needing a test-system switch in their lab today, as well as a switch that can accommodate future system or product requirements, such as increasing datarates or changing protocols.
Each multirate Sonet/SDH blade accepts 16 hot-swappable SFP (small form-factor pluggable) multimode or single-mode transceivers that can support OC-3, OC-12, and OC-48 simultaneously or independently.
In other words, customers may purchase transceivers that support all three datarates or may populate the blade with transceivers supporting the same data rate (all OC-3, for example).
The Apcon OC-3, OC-12, OC-48 blade is now shipping with prices beginning at US $2995.
OC-transceivers are sold separately.
