High-voltage supplies boast best linearity
A new range of high-voltage zero-crossing, reversible power supplies have output voltages ranging from +/-1 to +/-10kV, with up to +/-15kV available to special order.
High-voltage supplies boast smoother output
New precision high voltage power supplies use proprietary techniques to minimise component stress and enable unprecedented reductions in output ripple, noise and drift.
The XL models, with outputs up to 70kV, have their bipolar high voltage section immersed in the oil tank next to the X-ray tube.
This reduces size and weight, and removes the need for expensive high voltage cables and connectors.
The XF range, with outputs ranging from 25 to 50kV, has the high voltage section encapsulated in silicon rubber, for long term protection against dust and moisture.
Control of output voltage and current is by internal potentiometers or external 10V analogue control voltages.
Output ripple is less than 1% peak to peak for both ranges, which are rated at 100W.
Their high reliability has been achieved through particular attention being given to arc hardness and high voltage stress.
Full turn-on sequencing is provided with both ranges, to minimise stress on the tube and power supply.
The units have particular application in the X-ray monitoring of packaging fill levels in the food industry, and food inspection, where their high reliability ensures longer uptime and therefore greater throughput.
They are also suitable for low power medical X-ray imaging, where their high precision helps achieve greater resolution.
Applied Kilovolts can custom tune these high voltage modules to suit individual requirements.
