Radiall acquires Applied Engineering Products

An Applied Engineering Products product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team May 16, 2005

Applied Engineering Products has been sold to Radiall, the world leading manufacturer of interconnection products for the defence, avionics, telecommunications and automotive industries.

AEP (Applied Engineering Products), based in the Fairhaven section of New Haven Connecticut, has been sold to Radiall, the world leading manufacturer of interconnection products for the defence, avionics, telecommunications and automotive industries.

AEP has been based in New Haven since 1973 and has long been recognised as an excellent employer and a great corporate citizen of the city.

The founder of AEP, Ben Trivelli, who sadly died recently, had previously made the decision to sell the company to Radiall based on his desire to see AEP take full advantage of the global market for the company's products.

AEP ranks among the largest of the independent designers and manufacturers of subminiature coaxial connectors and cable assemblies used in high reliability RF and microwave applications.

The company's products are sold primarily to manufacturers of military and avionics electronics equipment.

Radiall is recognised as a global manufacturer of interconnection products serving a very similar customer base to that of AEP.

Radiall also owns Radiall-Jerrik located in Tempe, Arizona, which manufactures multi-pin connectors for the military and aerospace markets, and Radiall-Larsen, an antenna manufacturer based in Vancouver, Washington.

Andre Hernandez, CEO of Radiall-America, confirmed that the acquisition of AEP was a vital step in enabling Radiall to offer a complete interconnection range to its US customers in the defence and avionics industries and also highlighted the company's total commitment to its served industry as a growing US manufacturer.

In their earlier discussions, both Trivelli and Hernandez confirmed that the merger was carefully chosen by both parties, as having positive benefits for all.

Employment prospects will be enhanced, engineering opportunities will increase and the new owner will have the option to physically expand the facilities when needed, since an adjacent plot of land was included in the purchase of the company (which includes the building and the land).

It was emphasised that the merger will be transparent to AEP's valued customers, who will continue to deal with the same committed support team that have served them so well in the past.

It is well known that AEP's faith in the New Haven community has been a cornerstone of its success and the enlightened policies and training programmes, of which the company is justly proud, are expected to continue.

Radiall was chosen because of its desire to maintain and grow AEP on its existing site and, although Radiall is a publicly owned company, it is still majority owned by the founding Gattaz family, who have placed the wellbeing of their people in the forefront of their operating philosophy.

The people of AEP embrace this philosophy and look forward to demonstrating the same dedication to the new company as they have consistently shown over the last 30 years.
