Aprio Technologies has signed up Mike Gianfagna as its new President and Chief Executive Officer.
Gianfagna leads a highly talented team that has rapidly built Aprio into the technology leader in design-for-manufacturing (DFM) solutions with a new approach that ensures a faster path from design to successful manufacturing.
"Mike Gianfagna brings to Aprio more than 25 years of senior management experience in both the EDA and the semiconductor industries".
"Gianfagna will help drive Aprio's growth and firmly establish its leadership position in the emerging DFM market", stated Clive Wu, Aprio cofounder, CTO and former CEO.
"Aprio's anticipated fast growth demands we add depth and experience to our executive management team".
"Gianfagna's broad experience in semiconductor design and manufacturing, coupled with his insights acquired as both an EDA vendor and customer, make him an excellent leader to build Aprio into a company of lasting value".
"We are all enthusiastic to work together with Mike to achieve this goal".
Wu will continue as a member of the board of directors as well as the company's Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
"It has always been the company's plan to add seasoned management expertise once our products were ready for the market".
"Now that the initial products have been introduced, we are thrilled to have an executive of Gianfagna's abilities to lead the company through its next stage of growth and beyond", said Tom Peterson, Aprio board member and General Partner at Aprio investor El Dorado Ventures.
"I am excited to lead the Aprio team", remarked Gianfagna.
"The company has a winning product strategy and a solid vision".
"Aprio blends strong technical leadership with excellent customer focus".
"As leading semiconductor manufacturers develop sub-100nm processes, a new approach is required to manage complexity and optimise manufacturability".
"These critical needs create the new and emerging DFM market segment of EDA".
"I believe Aprio is well positioned to serve the needs of our advanced process development customers".
"We will become the de facto DFM supplier as semiconductor geometries approach 65nm".
Gianfagna holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from New York University and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Rutgers University.
Most recently, Gianfagna served as Vice President of Marketing at eSilicon Corp, a leading custom chip provider.
Prior to that, he was Vice President and General Manager of the System Level Design Group at Cadence Design Systems.
Gianfagna also served as Vice President of Sales at Zycad Corp, a specialty computer hardware vendor.
His career began at RCA Solid State, where he was part of the team that launched the company's ASIC business in the early 1980s.
He has also held senior management positions at General Electric Solid State and Harris Semiconductor (now Intersil).
