Professional audio compression comes to Bluetooth
Audio Processing Technology has ported its Enhanced apt-X algorithm to CSR's market leading BlueCore5-Multimedia Bluetooth platform.
Audio algorithms combine to upgrade Bluetooth
APT's apt-X technology combines with SRS Wow HD to provide an advanced leap in sound quality for Bluetooth compared with the standard sound quality of SBC.
"apt-X Live is the result of extensive development and research", explains APT's Managing Director, Noel McKenna.
"We wanted to meet the industry's requirement for increased bandwidth efficiency and still maintain the exceptional acoustics and negligible delay that the industry associates with all apt-X algorithms".
"Seeded from the same architectural principles as the established apt-X range and offering a compression ratio of 8:1, apt-X Live offers an unparalleled combination of quality and efficiency".
apt-X Live has already proven its outstanding audio quality in a series of independent listening tests where participants were unable to discern any difference between 24bit, 48kHz PCM audio and apt-X Live.
This innovative new technology will have a particularly significant impact in the field of digital wireless audio.
To date, many microphone and headset manufacturers have been hampered in their attempts to "go digital wireless" due to the lack of any available suitable technology.
With a delay, unequalled in the industry, of less than 2ms apt-X Live enables the streaming of digital audio in real time over a wireless link and removes any issues associated with video lip sync or on-stage timing.
apt-X Live will be available to license from October 2006.
