400W supplies with CompactPCI bells and whistles

A Vero Electronics product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Oct 16, 2001

APW has introduced a range of 400W AC- and DC-input high performance power supplies, providing standard CompactPCI voltages of 3.3V/68A, 5V/25A, +12V/5A and -12V/1.5A.

APW has introduced a range of 400W AC- and DC-input high performance power supplies, providing standard CompactPCI voltages of 3.3V/68A, 5V/25A, +12V/5A and -12V/1.5A.

Housed in a 6U x 160mm x 8HP(two-slot) module for use in computer, test and telecomms systems, the units support N+1 redundant and hot swap requirements and provide power sequencing on power up and power down.

Power inputs are 100-240V AC/47-63Hz and 40-72V DC; the mains unit has a PFC of better than 99% at full load.

Features include zero wire current sharing on 3.3, 5 and +12V outputs with a minimum holdup time of 18ms typical at full load.

Load regulation is 0.5% with remote sense, and line regulation is 0.1% over the entire operating range.

Supply fail and enable/inhibit control lines TTL logic signals are provided and a front panel LED has power supply status, input good, fail and overtemperature indicator.

The IEEE 1101.10 compliant front panel is fitted with injector/extractor handles, EMC gasket and guide pins.

Overcurrent protection covers all outputs set to 115-135% of full rated load with automatic recovery; overvoltage covers all outputs set to 115-135% of nominal, reset by recycling input power and overtemperature protection provides automatic shutdown with automatic recovery.

With 400litre/min forced air cooling, the operating temperature range is 0-50C with an MTBF of 250kh at 25C, Bellcore standard.
