The 19in rack mounting slimline Zephyr chassis family is designed for housing a production system or for use in a software/hardware development environment.

Electronic Solutions has made two additions to its 19in rack mounting slimline Zephyr chassis family, designed for housing a production system or for use in a software/hardware development environment.

Meeting IEEE1101.10 and 11 and fitted with VME64x 12-layer backplanes featuring active terminations and active ABG, the 1U chassis is fitted with a two-slot 7U backplane; the 2U version has a four-slot 6U backplane.

The 12-layer backplane has tightly controlled impedance, achieving excellent signal integrity and low crosstalk under all loading conditions.

The additional 1U height in the two-slot version gives real estate for monolithic power-on; the 2U version uses a separate power-on board to give options of pluggable PSUs.

Both versions have integral thermal management, the 1U version has the patented hybrid series-parallel fan arrangement to give 623 litre/min; the 2U version has a hot-swappable removable fan tray and optional filter giving left to right cooling.

The 1U unit has a hard-wired 250W ATX PSU as standard, the 2U version can be specified with a choice of dual 3U 200W pluggable supplies, a single 3U 200W pluggable supply or a fixed 250W ATX power supply.

The 2U version also has provision for mounting a 2.5in hard drive and 5.25 and 3.5in slim peripherals.
