Foolproof cable management from CableControl II

An APW Enclosure Solutions product story

The new CableControl II system ensures that cables are not crushed, stretched, twisted, over-tightened or bent through too sharp an angle while being run, stored or interconnected within an enclosure

The new CableControl II system from APW Electronics ensures that cables are not crushed, stretched, pulled, twisted, over-tightened or bent through too sharp an angle while being run, stored or interconnected within an enclosure.

Introduced primarily as an accessory for its new IMnet range, but with many products suitable for use in any 19" or ETSI standard rack, CableControl II is a complete family of components which ensure that good practice prevails during installation and subsequent revisits to the cabling cubicle.

By making it intuitive to use, CableControl II ensures that the wiring does not degenerate into a "rat' s-nest" over time, as well as ensuring that the minimum bend radii specified for fibre and Cat.

5 and 6 copper media are always exceeded.

The system consists of a number of plastic mouldings, all of which are fixing-free click-fit onto the panel or cabinet metalwork, and all of which provide a large-radius smooth surface to direct the cable.

Cable retention supports fit to 1U or 2U cable management panels, normally mounted above the patch panel with which they are associated.

2U cable storage shelves provide storage under controlled conditions for excess cable, while cable bobbins, available in two different heights, enable cables to be directed and managed as they flow down the 50mm vertical channel in a 600mm wide IMnet or the 125mm wide one in an 800mm IMnet.

The cable bobbins also support and guide cables when they are patched between racks in bayed suite.

Window mouldings for both the 50 and 125mm IMnet cable channels providing vertical segregation as the cables are broken out from the riser to the patch panels; they also provide convenient guides for front-to-rear patching.

All panel mount supports, which run from front to rear at each side of IMnet, have a rounded top surface to ensure that cables are not over-bent, and all cable entry points - three in the top, four in the base - can be fitted with cable protection mouldings or brushes to keep dust out if required.
