"The need for reliability and high performance has never been greater", says Harry Quinn, Alpha Wire's General Manager in the UK.
"System demands are rising fast while development times are shrinking, but choosing Xtra-Guard means that the cabling will always be right first time".
Xtra-Guard high performance electronic cable solutions include the following grades.
Xtra-Guard 1 is a general-purpose electronic cable for internal or external wiring of OEM equipment, featuring an extra-premium grade PVC jacket for extended cable life.
The cable provides: unsurpassed flame and moisture resistance; fast, easy stripping of insulation and jacket; and fully colour-coded, tinned copper conductors.
Both 300 and 600V UL and CSA cable styles are available, with typical applications including RS232C interfaces, medical electronics, point-of-sale equipment and computer peripherals.
Xtra-Guard 2 provides unmatched resistance to oils, fuels, solvents and water thanks to its industrial strength, extra-rugged polyurethane jacket, which has twice the tensile strength and three times the tear and abrasion resistance of PVC.
The cable has fully colour-coded PVC insulated tinned copper conductors, with a specially formulated extra-rugged polyurethane jacket.
It is available in 300 and 600V UL and CSA styles for applications such as CNC machine centres, automotive assembly plants, military ground support, petrochemical plant, and geophysical exploration.
Xtra-Guard 3 has five times the water resistance of conventional PVC making it ideal for use in wet earth environments, without the need for costly conduit.
It features an extra-durable outdoor direct-burial jacket made of a specially formulated ethylene propylene copolymer for outstanding service life and ultraviolet light stability.
Cable ratings of 300 and 600V can be supplied for applications like interbuilding communications, satellite equipment, outdoor security systems and pipeline sensor controls.
Xtra-Guard 4 delivers superior data transmission and control power in one cable protected by an extra-protection, high/low temperature thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) jacket.
The TPE provides outstanding resistance to oils, fuels, solvents, and water; has a low hydrochloric acid content for safety; and passes the 210,000BTU flame test.
The cables have fully colour-coded TPE insulated conductors and can be supplied in 300 and 600V UL cable styles.
Suitable for use in temperatures from -60 to +125C, Xtra-Guard 4 is designed for applications such as PLC controlled automated equipment, mass transit systems, military electronics, food plants and petrochemical process control.
It is also Pennsylvania Bureau Deep Mine Safety Approved (P-MWMS-1-85) for mine-wide monitoring systems.
Xtra-Guard 5 features an extra-high-temperature and chemical resistant FEP Teflon jacket offering unrivalled performance at temperatures from -80 to +200C.
FEP Teflon is a fluorocarbon resin developed by DuPont that makes the cable 100% impervious to all chemicals, acids, fuels, solvents and water.
Xtra-Guard 5 cable diameters are also up to 30% smaller than conventional types, while the low friction jacket makes routing much easier.
They have fully colour-coded conductors, are available in 300V UL and CSA styles, and are Pennsylvania Bureau Deep Mine Safety approved (P-MWMS-1-85) for mine-wide monitoring systems.
Typical applications include military electronic applications, glass and metal foundries, food plants, clean room and refinery cracker unit controls.
With such a wide choice of features, sizes, shielding and jacket options, Xtra-Guard high performance cables can meet the challenges of any application.
