Create a competitive advantage using configurable processor technology

ARC International has announced that the ConfigCon developers conference series will hold its next event in Shanghai, China on September 19, 2006 at the Sofitel Jin Jiang Hotel in Pudong.

ConfigCon Shanghai will feature keynote presentations from Semiconductor Manufacturing International (SMIC), Toshiba Corporation, Cadence Design Systems, DigiTimes Publications, and ARC International who will provide their vision for China's system-on-chip (SoC) industry, and how configurable solutions will help fuel the world's fastest-growing semiconductor market.

ConfigCon Shanghai follows the highly successful inaugural event that took place at the Ambassador Hotel in Hsinchu, Taiwan, where close to 400 people attended.

ConfigCon Shanghai 2006 will take place in association with CeBIT Asia, potentially drawing from the thousands of attendees from throughout the high-technology industry who attend CeBIT to learn the latest solutions available to IT professionals.

ConfigCon Shanghai's technical tracks will feature presentations from semiconductor companies designing SoCs around configurable processors.

Also presenting will be companies offering solutions from throughout the configurable SoC development ecosystem, such as processor cores, related on-chip IP, compilers, debuggers and other software development tools, HDL simulation, synthesis, EDA tools, middleware and operating systems, and silicon manufacturing services.

"China is well known for its determination to set its own standards that will enable a competitive advantage for Chinese semiconductor companies," said Derek Meyer, senior vice president of sales and marketing at ARC International.

"Configurable subsystems and processors represent the next generation of embedded processing and will allow OEM, ODM, and chip firms within China to enter markets with new products that don't carry the baggage of legacy architectures".

"This changes the playing field and fosters a greater level of innovation and competition in the world's fastest growing semiconductor market".
